Century Transport began as Baker’s Transport
in 1925 started up by Alfred Ernest Edward Baker, the Great-Great
Grandfather of the current Sales Director Anthony Mark Baker,
with his son Alfred Junior. Baker’s Transport dealt with Specialist, Multi-Man Haulage, delivering goods which ranged from rails of clothing to an infant Elephant, headed for ‘Whipsnade Zoo’. Over the years, the son of Alfred Junior, another Alfred though ‘Alf’ to those who knew him, took over the manual running of the business, whilst his then 18 year old son, Anthony began to run the business from the office or ‘yard’ as it was known. Over the years, Baker’s Transport began to deal with more specialised work in the technological market and eventually evolved into 21st Century Transport Ltd in 1994, headed by Anthony Mark Baker and offering the valued services that we offer today.
